CITY OF VENTURA – RFP – Healing Space

The City of Ventura Public Art program in partnership with Community Memorial Hospital system, is seeking proposals from Southern California Artists to submit proposals to exhibit an original mixed media or fiber art installation to inspire a sense of Healing Space within the external building window galleries.  Selected works will be on display for a period of 6 months. Artists have the option to propose to impact 1, 2 or 3 sides of the building.

ELIGIBILITY: This opportunity is open to interested artists residing in Southern California.

BUDGET: The selected artist or artist team will be awarded a $1750 contract. The commission includes design, fabrication, materials, installation, de-installation costs.

CITY OF VENTURA – RFQ – Kellogg Park

The Trust for Public Land (TPL) in coordination with the City of Ventura’s Public Art Program is looking to commission an artist(s) for mosaic design and fabrication services for Kellogg Park. The project is scope includes the following: Overall mosaic concept design, fabrication, and installation oversight — the design may incorporate sculptural elements but should also include mosaic tiles. Coordination of mosaic locations with the Landscape Architect and provision of any pertinent design information to be included in the construction documents.  Inclusion of donor recognition and park “story tiles,” which will be supplied to the artist by TPL. One (1) presentation at a community meeting to receive community input and further refine design concept. Two (2) presentations to the Public Art Commission prior to final design approval and fabrication. One (1) community mosaic day during fabrication.

ELIGIBILITY: This opportunity is open to all professional artists working in mosaic art, who reside in Santa Barbara or Ventura Counties, and have experience working in the public arena with governmental agencies.

BUDGET: The selected artist or artist team will be awarded a $40,000 contract. The commission includes artist honorarium, design, fabrication, materials, installation, insurance, travel expenses, contingency and any incidental costs.

CITY OF VENTURA – RFQ – (PLACE) Public and Local Artists Creating Environments

The City of Ventura is seeking qualifications from Southern California artists for a series of temporary public art projects to enhance our Historic Downtown and Westside Cultural Districts during the July 2015 ArtWalk. Temporary public art projects create new ways to appreciate shared environments, inspire creativity within a community, and encourage conversation about the arts. These temporary public artworks will be on display in Ventura in July of 2015 during the Summer ArtWalk.  Application Workshop – Interested artists are encouraged to attend a workshop about this project. Topics discussed will include how to submit a competitive application, available locations, the feasibility of different types of projects, and insurance liability. This workshop will be held in February 12, 2015 at 5:00 PM at Ventura City Hall.

ELIGIBILITY: This opportunity is open to interested artists residing in Southern California.

BUDGET: The selected artists or artist teams will be awarded a $2,000 – $4,000 contract. The commission includes design, fabrication, materials, installation, travel expenses, and some incidental costs.
