CULVER CITY – RFP – Art Consultant for Temporary Art at City Hall

In conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of Culver City’s Art in Public Places Program, the City wishes to commission one or multiple dynamic temporary art installations for City Hall which are to remain on view for a period of 6 -12 months. To facilitate the commission of the artwork(s), the City is seeking a qualified art consultant who will be responsible for artist selection (via RFQ/RFP); coordinating review of artist submissions and installation/deinstallation of artwork(s) to ensure conformance with established budget and timeline. Target date for installation of artwork(s) shall be spring 2019.

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified art consultants are individuals who have experience with art commissions in conjunction with government (or public agency) percent for art programs. Candidates based in California will be given priority consideration.

BUDGET: Up to $50,000 is available for design, fabrication and installation of art; with an additional $9,000 (max.) to cover consultant’s costs in conjunction with this RFP.

CULVER CITY – RFP – Art Consultant for Washington / National TOD Gateway

The City of Culver City (City), in partnership with CLPF – 8777 Washington, L.P. and Lowe (Project Partners), seeks a qualified art consultant for commission of permanent art at the intersection of Washington and National Boulevards with the goal of visually unifying the intersection’s four corners and creating a gateway for Culver City. Potential sites for art exist on all four corners, including a triangular parkette on the south side of the intersection, adjacent to the elevated Metro Expo Line.

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified art consultants are individuals who have completed commissions in conjunction with government (or public agency) percent for art programs. Candidates based in California who have completed projects relating to the built environment within Los Angeles County will be given priority consideration.

BUDGET: The total project budget is currently just over $1 million; up to $50,000 available to cover art consultant services.

SACRAMENTO, CA – RFQ – Public Art Consultant

Rudolph & Sletten and Turner Construction Company are the design-build contracting entities for the new State of California O Street Office Building and new State of California Natural Resources Building respectively. Both teams are requesting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from individuals or firms (Applicants) for Art Consulting services for these two projects. One consultant will be selected to serve both projects but contracted independently with Rudolph & Sletten and Turner for each project.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be located in California and at least 5 years experience developing and implementing a public art program.

BUDGET: The budgeted cost of the State of California Natural Resources Building public art program, including art consulting services, artists’ fees, artwork fabrication, and installation is $1,967,000. The budgeted cost of the State of California O Street Office Building public art program, including art consulting services, artists’ fees, artwork fabrication, and installation is $850,000.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – RFQ – Designer Selection Process Consultant

LOS ANGELES – RFQ – CURRENT:LA Site Coordinators

The Department of Cultural Affairs has an exciting opportunity for up to 15 Site Coordinators to assist with CURRENT:LA Water, an inaugural Public Art Biennial that is presenting temporary public art installations and cultural programming in publicly accessible locations throughout the city of Los Angeles from July 16th to August 14th. The Site Coordinators will have a rich understanding of public art practices, serve as a docent engaging the public, and act as a steward to volunteers, local organizations, and community members.

ELIGIBILITY: The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate experience with project coordination, and possess strong leadership skills; have knowledge of contemporary public art practices in Los Angeles; have relevant professional experience with community engagement. The candidate must have a professional disposition and positive attitude; possess strong communication skills; bilingual fluency is desired; employ exemplary time management strategies; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task; and abide by City protocol.

BUDGET: Stipend hourly rate of $23.26 per hour (or internship opportunity) will be provided. Ability to work part-time, up to twenty-four (24) hours per week is required. Must be willing to work some evenings and most weekends. Must be able to attend a Mandatory Orientation on either Monday, June 27th or Tuesday, June 28th.

CITY OF GLENDALE – RFP – Public Art Master Plan Consultant

The Glendale Arts & Culture Commission (ACC), an advisory board to the City Council of the City of Glendale (City), is seeking proposals from consultants or consultant teams with specific experience in public art master planning for the purpose of developing a Public Art Master Plan (Master Plan) for the City. The selected consultant will work with the ACC and the City to gather and use broad public and City involvement in the creation of the Plan. Proposals should include information demonstrating recent experience in public arts planning, community stakeholder outreach, and municipal coordination.

BUDGET: The applicant’s fee proposal/budget should cover all expenses of the consultant to conduct a needs analysis, elicit community input, synthesize this research within the framework of best practices, and publish the final Master Plan that is endorsable by ACC and the City Council.
