Panelists’ Alan Nakagawa, Renee Petropolous, Marc Pally and moderator tom Lesser(Director of Art and Tech program and Director of Center for Integrated Media at CalArts) will provide you with insight into the business of public art.

Four Los Angeles Agencies Offer Free Programs For Artists

Artist workshops will be presented by staff of four Los Angeles public art programs (Los Angeles County METRO, Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs, Los Angeles County Arts Commission) to inform artists about upcoming public art opportunities and how to apply for them. The workshops are free and open to all. The same workshop will be presented at four locations:

6pm – Public Art Program: Introductions and up coming artist opportunities
7pm – Town Meeting: Expanding our public art ideas
7:30pm – One on One (10 minutes max): Artists may sign up to speak with art administrators. Artists may bring their portfolios, resumes and past letter of interests.
8:30 – Conclude evening

MAKING IT PUBLIC: Workshops on Public Art Practice for Artists is a training series tailored to Southern California artists in pursuit of public art commissions. The Public Art Coalition of Southern California (PACSoCal) is a regional network of public art professionals. In response to the need for public artist technical assistance, PACSoCal has developed three sequential workshops addressing different aspects of the public art application, commissioning, design and fabrication processes as well as providing tips for successful artist-run business.
