OXNARD – RFQ – Downtown Mural Project

In RFQ on February 6, 2019 at 10:34 pm

The City of Oxnard is seeking two artists (or two teams of artists) to create two permanent, outdoor murals that will be situated prominently at City Hall on the two large walls adjacent to the building’s main entrances from Third Street. Motorists and pedestrians travelling North, South, and West on Third Street will be able to view this artwork from their vehicle or by foot. This outdoor artwork will be highly visible and must complement the City’s aesthetic in style, scale, and medium. The artwork should be created to be noticeable at a distance, and understandable at a glance. The artwork should also draw inspiration from and seek to reflect the City’s rich, culturally diverse history.

ELIGIBILITY: The project is open to all artists, age 18 and over, regardless of race, color, religion, natural origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disability. Employees of the City of Oxnard, consultants of the City of Oxnard, or individuals who serve on the selection panel for the Cultural Arts Commission are not eligible.

BUDGET: A budget of $20,000 for each mural is all inclusive and must cover all associated costs of the project for each mural, including but not limited to, artist fees, design, fabrication, materials, labor, transportation, site preparation, insurance, consulting fees (such as structural engineering or testing), installation, equipment, traffic control, site clean-up, legal fees, permit fees, per diem, and taxes. It is the responsibility of the artist to purchase all the art materials necessary to complete the project.

DEADLINE: March 1, 2019, 5pm
