CITY OF DESERT HOT SPRINGS – RFQ – Utility and Traffic Signal Cabinets

The City of Desert Hot Springs is seeking artists to create artwork for utility and traffic signal cabinets located at two locations in the City. The prioritized locations include the intersection of Palm Drive and Two Bunch Palms Drive (five cabinets) and the intersection of Mountain View Drive and Hacienda Blvd. The selected artist or artists will be required to host a workshop with the Community and Cultural Affairs Commission (CCAC) and create two or three design proposals for the cabinets, from which the CCAC will select the final design.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to artists in the Coachella Valley and surrounding area. Artists will adhere to insurance requirements as recommended by the City’s Risk Manager.

BUDGET: Minimum of $500 and up to a maximum of $5,000 per cabinet

CITY OF DESERT HOT SPRINGS – RFQ – Entry Monuments

The City of Desert Hot Springs is seeking artists to design, construct and install original decorative monument signs at the city’s entries points. There are multiple locations where such monument signs may be placed in the City. Prioritized sign locations include high traffic entry corridors along Palm Drive, Indian Avenue and Dillon Road.  Monument sign will identify the entrance to the City and shall be aesthetically pleasing, legible and portray the community in a positive light. The Community and Cultural Affairs Commission (CCAC) has expressed a preference for natural materials such as rock, stone, or other earthen materials and to have the City’s name displayed prominently. The selected artist or artists may be required to host a workshop with the CCAC and create two or three design proposals for the entry monuments, from which the CCAC will select the final design for review and approval by the City Council.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to artists in the Southern California and surrounding area. Artists will adhere to insurance requirements as recommended by the City’s Risk Manager.

BUDGET: Between $5,000 and $10,000 per monument sign.

Seeking artists to design, construct and install original public art for purchase and acquisition by the City. The selected artist or artists may be required to host a workshop with the Community and Cultural Affairs Commission (CCAC) and create two or three design proposals, from which the CCAC will select the final design for review and approval by the City Council. The selected artists will be responsible for
design, construction and installation of the public art works.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists. Artists will adhere to insurance requirements as recommended by the City’s Risk Manager.

BUDGET: The Community and Cultural Affairs Commission has established a budget of $10,000 for the purchase and installation of public art.
