RIVERSIDE – RFQ – Public Art Consultant

The California Air Resource Board is seeking art consulting services as required to implement the public art program for the Southern California Consolidation Project in Riverside, CA. The services may include, but are not limited to, the following services: develop a project art plan; write and disseminate artist Requests for Qualifications and Request for Proposals; administer artist application intake, sorting, reading, and organizing for artist selection and design approval meetings; convene and facilitate all art program meetings; draft art and design contract scopes; review proposed designs and coordinate any design change recommendations with artists; monitor artwork fabrication and installation; prepare and update art budgets; prepare public art operation and maintenance manuals; assist in the preparation of an art book, which will include all the works of art in the art program; and ongoing communication, updates, reporting, and tracking as needed.

BUDGET: The budgeted cost of the Public Art Program for the project is $2,421,200.00.

We have strategically selected our next PACSOCAL date because the California Desert Arts Council has partnered with the Americans for the Arts’ National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP) to host a one-day workshop titled “Big Strategies and Real Tactics for Connecting Artists, Audience and Place” on Thursday, October 12. The workshop will offer practical application of branding, advertising and audience development tactics.  The fee for the one day symposium is $75.

Public Art Program Administrator positions assist with all phases of the public funding programs and public art programs; participate in staff standing and ad hoc committees which meet monthly or as required; prepare and review various reports and grant applications; provide research, analysis and direction in the development of special initiatives including the implementation of feasibility studies, recommendation of policies and procedures, budgets, marketing strategies and evaluation processes; develop and implement technical assistance and capacity building programs; assist in the planning and coordination of community convenings and other outreach activities as required to advance cultural tourism, diversity initiatives and public art projects; collaborate with businesses, nonprofits, associations, artists, contractors, volunteers and members of the general public; act as an ambassador for arts and culture; and perform other duties as assigned.

MIM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (i.e., minimum completed units = 120 semester/180 quarter) in Art History, Visual/Performing Arts, Arts Administration, Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a closely related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for education lacked on a year-for-year basis. One year of full-time experience = 30 semester/45 quarter college-level units. Four years of full-time professional experience in the development and implementation of an arts and culture program. A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire.
