LONG BEACH – RFP – Creative Corridor Challenge Mural

For the second year in a row, the Office of Vice Mayor Rex Richardson is spearheading the Creative Corridor Challenge. This year Vice Mayor’s office is partnering with the Arts Council for Long Beach and California State University, Dominguez Hills to engage in an initiative that will improve the district through the installation of murals. The Creative Corridor Challenge is looking for artists to contribute to the collection of neighborhood murals. Submissions will be considered by the Office of Vice Mayor Rex Richardson, the Arts Council for Long Beach and community residents. A team of community volunteers will be able to help each artist with their project. This year the Creative Corridor Challenge would like to see concepts that uplift, highlight and celebrate the vibrant history and culture of North Long Beach.

ELIGIBILITY: Strong preference given to Long Beach residents or those with a connection to Long Beach. Special consideration also given to those with a connection to North Long Beach, whether current or past.

BUDGET: Stipends are $4,500, which includes muralists fee and all purchases towards mural materials (including Novacolor primer, Novacolor varnish, ladders, scissor lifts, scaffolding, exterior latex or acrylic paint, aerosol paint et. al.)

LONG BEACH – RFQ – Teaching Mosaic Artist, Eye on Design

Are you a teaching artist who is passionate about public art and wants to work with Long Beach students? The Arts Council for Long Beach is currently seeking an experienced visual arts teaching artist with an emphasis on mosaics for the upcoming 2016–17 academic school year. The residency is for our arts education program, Eye on Design and will run between the months of October and June.

ELIGIBILITY: Minimum three years teaching experience. Experience teaching in a public school setting is preferred. Previous experience teaching K-5 curriculum.

BUDGET: $65/hour, supplies provided

DOWNTOWN LONG BEACH ASSOCIATES – RFQ – Creative Crosswalks

The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), a non-profit Business Improvement District operating in Long Beach California, is seeking an artist or artist team to design artwork graphics for crosswalks at 6 mid-block crossings along Pine Avenue in Downtown Long Beach. The selected artist shall create a series of design variations that reflect the unique identity, diversity, culture, and/or history of Downtown Long Beach. Installation of the approved artwork graphics will be the responsibility of the DLBA. Installation costs are separate from the artist contract for design services. The artist will be selected based on the submitted application and images of completed project samples. Artists will be selected through a juried process. Jurors are design professionals, Downtown stakeholders and DLBA and City staff.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists must reside in Los Angeles County

BUDGET: Design fee $3,500. The fabrication of stencils and isntallation of the art to the crosswalk will be contracted by the DLBA in coordination with the City of Long Beach, and is separate from the artist design fee.

GREEN PUBLIC ART CONSULTANCY – RFP – GREEN ART PARADE

Green Public Art Consultancy invites artists, performers and designers to create floats, placards, portable sculptures, kites, performances, art bikes, balloons and street spectacles for a Green Art Parade! The route will begin at a location TBD in North Park and will conclude at Art Produce (3139 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104). Participants must be able to walk, run, and/or roll the entire route. The route will not exceed 1 mile in length.

The Green Art Parade will occur on two dates, Saturday, July 13, 2013 and Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 7:00 – 8:00pm. An artist’s reception at the Art Produce gallery and garden will immediately follow each event.

ELIGIBILITY: This call is open to all artists residing in Southern California. Artists living in San Diego are especially encouraged to apply.

DEADLINE: Submission materials are due May 15, 2013 by 5:00pm via email to: info@greenpublicart.com . Selected artists notified on May 20, 2013 with an official invitation to participate.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Fire Stations 128 and 132, Santa Clarita, CA RFQ

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission’s Civic Art Program is seeking qualifications from two-dimensional artists, such as painters, printmakers, graphic artists and photographers, to create original artwork for the interiors of Fire Station 128 and 132 in Santa Clarita, CA. The new fire stations will provide fire protection and emergency medical services to a growing neighborhood in the Santa Clarita Valley.

ELIGIBILITY: This commission is open to professional artists residing in Los Angeles County. Artists residing in or have connections to the City of Santa Clarita are strongly encouraged to apply.

BUDGET: The budget will be up to $15,000 for each station. This budget includes all artist fees and costs associated with insurance, travel, design, framing, delivery and installation of the Artworks.

DEADLINE: Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011.

ARTS COUNCIL FOR LONG BEACH: Request for Exhibition and Installation Proposals

The Arts Council for Long Beach seeks proposals from artists and curators for temporary exhibitions and site-specific installations for a visual art gallery in downtown Long Beach. This is an open call to professional artists and curators residing in the Southern California region. Long Beach residents are encouraged to apply.

BUDGET: Selected applicants will be given a $5,000 stipend. This budget is all-inclusive and is intended to cover all costs and associated costs for research, artwork delivery, installation, and de-installation.

ELIGIBILITY: Limited to applicants residing or based in the Southern California area, extending from Los Angeles and Ventura counties to San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Artist, curators, directors, non-profit arts organizations as well as gallery, museum and public art professionals are encouraged to submit an application.

DEADLINE: All complete proposals must be received via SUBMISHMASH no later than July 8, 2011 at 4pm.
