MANHATTAN BEACH – RFQ – City Hall Public Art Project

The City of Manhattan Beach, invites artists, as individuals or teams to submit qualifications for the design and implementation of a public art project at the Manhattan Beach City Hall. The proposed location is in the entry way to City Hall and will replace a mural that is being moved to another location.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to professional artists who have successfully completed at least 2 (two) permanent art installation or design projects valued over $150,000.00, preferably those that are similar in scope and nature to this project. Prior work could include architecture, landscape or urban design projects if public art was an integral component.

BUDGET: The budget for this project is a not-to-exceed figure of $ 250,000.00.

MANHATTAN BEACH – RFP – Utility Box Program

The Utility Box Beautification Project, is a public art program designed to transform common traffic control utility boxes into distinctive works of art, creating a more vibrant, attractive cityscape. This program is under the direction of City Council and is supervised and facilitated by the Cultural Arts Commission and City Staff. The program celebrates local artists and their artwork, acts as a deterrent to graffiti, and involves the City and County residents in contributing to the beautification of the city.

ELIGIBILITY: Only open to artists residing, working or attending classes in the Cities of Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach or Hermosa Beach are eligible.

BUDGET: Artists will be awarded a $500 stipend, this is inclusive of all artist fees, supplies, and time spent.

The City of Manhattan Beach Cultural Arts Commission is creating a Roster of Pre-Qualified Artists to be part of the Manhattan Beach Murals program (MB Murals). The purpose of the Roster is to streamline the artist selection process for a range of upcoming mural projects. Artists who are chosen for inclusion in the Roster will be eligible to
be considered for future public art mural projects in Manhattan Beach. Inclusion in the final Roster will be for a period of three years.

BUDGET: The approximate award for each mural is between $10,000.00-$15,000.00.

MANHATTAN BEACH – RFP – Sculpture Garden 2018

The City of Manhattan Beach Cultural Arts Commission is seeking artwork for the Biennial Sculpture Garden Exhibition. Responding to the City Council’s work plan, the Sculpture Garden Program was originated in 2009 as a temporary outdoor exhibition. This program aims to increase interest in our community for public art and offer artists a unique opportunity to showcase their original sculptural work to the Manhattan Beach community and its thousands of visitors.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists must live in California and be 18 years of age and over

BUDGET: 12,000.00 must include all aspects, design, fabrication, installation. Our public works department will supply crane and forklift services.
