SANTA MONICA – RFQ – Temporary Artwork Series

In RFQ on April 6, 2017 at 3:01 am

Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division and Downtown Santa Monica Inc. (DTSM) are partnering to present an ongoing and rotating series of installations that will activate public spaces and invite the community to explore the Colorado Esplanade and the length of the Promenade from Colorado Ave. to Wilshire Blvd. A pool of artists will be identified and will subsequently develop proposals for temporary artworks to be installed in downtown Santa Monica between July 2017 and September 2018.

ELIGIBILITY: This is a national call and open to all professional artists and artist teams living in the United States. Previous experience in public art is highly desirable but not required. Artists will be required to meet City of Santa Monica and Downtown Santa Monica insurance requirements and sign an indemnification letter upon selection. Preference may be given to Southern California based artists, but it is not a requirement.

BUDGET: There are two separate Opportunities in the series. Each installation will have a budget ranging between $6,000 to $20,000 depending on the scale, duration of artwork and complexity of installation. Final budget amounts will be negotiated during the proposal phase. Budgets will be all inclusive of any travel, equipment, materials, commissions/fees or other needs for the applicants. This includes any installation and de-installation costs that might be needed. Installations must be de-installed and removed by the artist on determined dates.

DEADLINE: May 5th, 2017 at 10:00PM PST
