SAN JOSE – RFQ – End of Watch Police Memorial

San Jose Public Art (SJPA), the City of San Jose’s Public Art Program, is seeking an experienced artist to create a permanent memorial to honor San Jose Police Officers who have died in the line of duty. The City of San Jose is creating the End of Watch Police Memorial to honor and memorialize San Jose Police Officers who have lost their lives in service to the public. There is interest in an approach that provides a thoughtful, reflective experience for those who visit the memorial. It will also be a site where the public comes to share expressions of grief when officers lose their lives, and will be an area that will be integral in the Police Department’s annual Memorial Ceremony.

ELIGIBILITY: This call is open only to artists living and working in California. One artist or artist team will be selected for the project.

BUDGET: Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10:59 PM PDT

DEADLINE: The available funding for this public art project is presently up to $130,000, for design development, fabrication and installation. The project funding is allocated as follows: Design: 1) $20,000 for completion of all steps of the design phase from concept development through construction documentation including engineering and, 2) Fabrication & Installation: Up to $110,000.
