SAN ANTONIO, TX – Salary Position – Public Art Project Manager

Under general direction, is responsible for providing project management for the City of San Antonio’s public art program, which is a division of the Department of Culture & Creative Development. The department is responsible for delivering public art related capital projects associated with bond and non-bond funding allocations approved by City Council.  The Project Manager is responsible for management of public art capital projects involving one or more small to medium-sized, moderately complex projects. Public art capital projects must adhere to additional public art policies and guidelines that impact various phases of each project, selecting artists, design review and approval process, and innovations and creative solutions for built-environment and open spaces.

The Project Manager organizes and plans multiple projects and leads a team of professionals, including artists, design professionals (architects/landscape architects/engineers), outside contractors, vendors/suppliers, as well as other City staff. The position ensures successful project implementation from start to finish and quality performance/function of municipally- commissioned public art.  May exercise functional supervision over assigned staff.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public or Business Administration, or a related field and two (2) years of project management experience. It is preferred for applicants to have a Master’s Degree, professional work experience in the field of Public Art,  and experience in arts administration and the implementation and management of art projects.
