In RFQ on October 20, 2015 at 8:26 pm

The City of Carlsbad’s Library & Cultural Arts Department seeks an artist or artist team to develop site-integrated artwork in conjunction with the future park improvements for the Pine Avenue Community Park. The improvements include an 18,000 sf multi-purpose, multi-generational community center and a garden area consisting of an ornamental garden and community garden plots. The City of Carlsbad recently hired architectural firm Roesling Nakamura Terada with landscape architecture firm Spurlock Poirier to prepare design and construction documents for these improvements. Construction documents are expected to be finalized by April 2016 and construction of the park improvements are expected to begin in November 2016 with completion by December 2017.

ELIGIBILITY: The call is open to established professional artists residing and eligible to work in the United States. Preference may be given to artists living in Southern California. Artists whose work is already represented in the city’s collection are eligible to apply, but the artist selection panel will consider artistic diversity as one factor in the selection process.

BUDGET: The total project budget is $100,000, all inclusive of travel expenses, taxes and other project costs.

DEADLINE: November 23, 2015 at 4 p.m. PST

QUESTIONS: Vincent Kitch, Cultural Arts Manager, City of Carlsbad, 760-434-2920,
