CITY OF LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS (DCA) – RFP – Watts Riots/Rebellion 50th Anniversary Mural Project

DCA is seeking proposals for a site-specific mural commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Watts Rebellion. Applicants must demonstrate the professional capacity to oversee the design and fabrication of a mural in a public space and the ability to work in consultation with City staff, City advisory committees and the public. Applicants may apply as individual artists or as artist teams, but artist teams may not change over the life of the project. Proposals that incorporate opportunities for local youth participation are desired but not required.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to professional artists and artist teams living and working in the County of Los Angeles. Employees of the City of Los Angeles are ineligible to apply.

BUDGET: The budget for the project is $30,000. The project budget is all-inclusive and must cover all expenses associated with the design and fabrication of the proposed mural. The project is funded by DCA’s Citywide Murals Program.

DEADLINE: 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.
