LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARTS COMMISSION – RFQ – Antelope Valley Art Outpost – Artist in Residence

In RFQ on February 21, 2015 at 12:42 am

Antelope Valley Art Outpost (Outpost) is a creative placemaking project that supports regional vitality through artist-driven projects in the unincorporated communities of Littlerock and Sun Village. Outpost is designed in two phases: Phase 1: Antelope Valley Cultural and Community Asset Research, and Phase 2: Artist-in-Residence Program in Littlerock and Sun Village. This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) will identify the artists-in-residence for Phase 2. The selected artists will activate and transform a site in each community into a creative hub. Artists will work alongside project partners and stakeholders to develop and implement a plan that will engage residents in a collaborative visioning process. The residencies will evolve over six to eight months, and at the conclusion, recommendations will be developed for long-term, sustainable creative programs, projects and/or public artworks that speak to the attributes and aspirations of Littlerock and Sun Village.

ELIGIBILITY: This commission is open to professional artists who are residents of Los Angeles County. At least one of the selected artists will be a resident of the Antelope Valley.

BUDGET: Each artist will be given an all inclusive budget of $40,000 for artist fees and all cost associated with the development and execution of community-specific engagement plans in Littlerock and Sun Village. Housing is not provided through this residency.

DEADLINE: 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015

QUESTIONS: Erin Harkey, Civic Art Project Manager, at 213-202-3985 or eharkey@arts.lacounty.gov
