The City of Desert Hot Springs is seeking artists to design, construct and install original decorative monument signs at the city’s entries points. There are multiple locations where such monument signs may be placed in the City. Prioritized sign locations include high traffic entry corridors along Palm Drive, Indian Avenue and Dillon Road.  Monument sign will identify the entrance to the City and shall be aesthetically pleasing, legible and portray the community in a positive light. The Community and Cultural Affairs Commission (CCAC) has expressed a preference for natural materials such as rock, stone, or other earthen materials and to have the City’s name displayed prominently. The selected artist or artists may be required to host a workshop with the CCAC and create two or three design proposals for the entry monuments, from which the CCAC will select the final design for review and approval by the City Council.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to artists in the Southern California and surrounding area. Artists will adhere to insurance requirements as recommended by the City’s Risk Manager.

BUDGET: Between $5,000 and $10,000 per monument sign.

DEADLINE: Monday, March 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
