CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO – RFQ – Bill Graham Civic Auditorium

Soliciting applications from qualified artists to create a permanent artwork for the western facing façades of San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium turning it into a major new cultural asset for the Civic Center. This is a high profile opportunity for an imaginative and innovative artist to create a large scale artwork in a very prominent location. The site has great visibility given its proximity to City Hall, Market Street and Civic Center Plaza, which is home to a diverse array of civic and community celebrations. It is the daily site of democracy in action with political protests and demonstrations happening on a regular basis. In 1992, the building was renamed the Bill Graham Center in honor of the legendary Rock and Roll promoter Bill Graham.

ELIGIBILITY: Eligibility is open to professional, practicing artists who reside in the United States. Entries not meeting eligibility guidelines will be withdrawn from consideration.

BUDGET: The total budget for artwork is $1,200,000 inclusive of all artist’s fees, as well as associated expenses for design, fabrication, insurance, transportation and installation.
