NATIONAL PARK SERVICE – RFP – Artist-in-Residence

“We’re looking for either established or emerging artists who consider themselves ‘teaching artists,’ meaning they are a practicing artist who also engages the community in learning about the arts,” said Tori Kuykendall, a park ranger with Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. “We’re interested in artists who are passionate about using nature to inspire young people, particularly young people who may not have a great deal of experience in the outdoors.”

Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, in partnership with the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, will select three artists and will provide a $2,750 stipend for a three-month term. Artists are required to host an exhibition or performance of either their work or the work created by youth involved in the project.

Information sessions on February 22 or February 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center in Calabasas.
