GLOW 2013 – September 28, 2013

Artwork for one-night art event. Commissions for new work range from $2,500 to $5,000.

The City of Santa Monica is seeking proposals from artists and/or artist teams for temporary art installations for the city’s all-night event, Glow.

 First produced in 2008 and again in 2010, Glow was wildly successfully, with over 20 installations each year and up to one hundred artists.  In 2010 approximately 150,000 people came to savor art that was always engaging and in many cases interactive.  On September 28, 2013, Santa Monica Beach, Palisades Park and surrounding areas will host unique and diverse temporary artworks. Inspired by Paris’ all-night festival, Nuit Blanche, the Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division is pleased to invite artists to partake in this unprecedented nighttime event by submitting proposals for artwork.

ELIGIBILITY:GLOW is open to all professional artists and/or artist teams who live or work in Los Angeles County.  Full-time students are not eligible.

BUDGET: Commissions range from $2,500 to $5,000

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: February 22, 2013 (11:59pm Mountain Time)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Proposals for GLOW must be submitted via CaFÉ, an on-line system for submitting visual information.  CaFÉ is free to artists applying to GLOW, but you must register before you can access the application.
