CITY OF SANTA MONICA: RFQ – Public Art for Parking Structure 6—East Façade

In RFQ on April 2, 2011 at 5:42 am

Parking Structure 6, which is located on 2nd Street between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd., will be demolished and a new parking structure will be built in its place. Behnisch Architekten has been hired to design a new ‘green’ parking structure. Public art will be featured on the east façade of the structure as part of the City’s ongoing efforts to make the alleyways more inviting and safe. It presents an exciting opportunity to activate the 2nd Street Court alleyway and engage pedestrians who often use it as a cut-through to the shops and restaurants.

BUDGET: The all-inclusive budget for design, fabrication and installation is $125,000.

ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to artists living in Southern California, which is defined as Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties.

DEADLINE: Wed., April 27, 2011 no later than 5:00pm
